A manufactured way to give humans the ability to use magic? Far-fetched for sure, but the pitch was interesting enough to look into, if only for the entertainment value.

If only I had known then I was getting myself into the middle of a terrible secret that threatened me, my loved ones, and perhaps the world itself.

The characters' dialogue and actions are authentic, seamlessly fitting into the storyline. As a new author, Codi Lokken provides an engaging reading experience for listeners.

The narrator, Louise Cooksey provides a rich performance delivered skillfully at a steady pace, complete with tonal inflections, and speaks clearly. She actively captured the personality of each character and projected it accordingly.

This is an entertaining book with plot twists and dynamic characters.
