Omi & Cookie's Adventures, Book 1

Four-year-old Omi loves the surprises Dad plans for her and her sister Cookie while Mom is at work. They build castles, read stories, and go on adventures. Today they’re heading to the park! But a perfect day is interrupted by a bad case of the crankies. How will Omi handle these big, unexpected feelings? Is there a safe and healthy way for her to process everything she’s experiencing? Big feelings are a normal part of life for kids—and for grownups, too! A Day with Dad normalizes these situations and provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to talk openly to children about stress, anger, and worry. It even includes exercises after the story so that kids can practice ways to manage their own big feelings.

A Day with Dad is part of a series, Omi & Cookie’s Adventures, about the early lives of two young, curious, and imaginative Black sisters. A portion of each purchase goes toward helping finance mental health and wellness programs for young children in southwestern Ontario.
