A vision of death
When Tom Cassidy signs up for a creative writing class, he has no idea what he's let himself for. The teacher taking the class, only known as The Professor, is a legend in the town, arriving once a year to introduce a select few to new ways of thinking. Bored with his life and aching for adventure, Tom finally gives in and puts his name in the battered ballot box: the wooden contraption covered with names of previous students who've either vanished, or been altered by the experience.
