Resumen del Editor

They thought about their evil fantasy for months. Then wound up like clockwork toys...they acted.

In April 1997, pretty, 22-year-old Jacine Gielinski stopped her car at a red light in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had no idea that the two young men looking at her from the car next to hers would in that moment decide she would be their target for unspeakable horrors.

George Woldt and Lucas Salmon were an unlikely pair of best friends, much less killers. Woldt was a fast-talking, well-dressed ladies man who boasted of his sexual conquests. Salmon was deeply religious, and socially misfit, obsessed with losing his virginity.

Woldt was the leader, Salmon his willing follower, but neither had been in serious trouble with the law. However, inspired by the cult movie A Clockwork Orange, with its dystopian violence, they fantasized for months what it would be like to abduct, rape, torture, and murder a woman. Then, aroused by watching ultra-violent pornography, they decided to act upon their evil thoughts.

Revised and updated with a new afterword from the author, A Clockwork Murder recounts the steps that led to an unthinkable crime and its impact on a community, as well as the friends and especially the parents of an innocent young woman who paid with her life for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Heartbreaking but Wonderfully Told

This was exceptionally well written and excellently narrated. The story itself is so deeply sad, so completely unsettling that it is difficult to listen to at times but Steve Jackson told the story wonderfully and Kevin Pierce does a wonderful job narrating.

This is a must listen/read for anyone who enjoys true crime. I'll be looking for more from both the author and the narrator.

Good book great epilogue!

Steve Jackson’s epilogue is a must read. Terrible murders, terrible defendants. Very good true crime. Excellent narration.

What true crime is about

Jackson does an awesome job of bringing this story to us. I will listen to anything that Kevin Pierce narrates. He's very good & just an easy listening voice. Frustration with the justice system & the fact that these 2 "men" did not actually both die, but at least they cannot hurt anyone else. The story is gruesome, but I found that I couldn't wait to listen after a pause. Great book.

Great Narrative

Steve Jackson is a great True crime writer. Doesn’t go over the top in making the crimes he writes about gratuitous.

Can't get past the authors epilogue

What did you like best about A Clockwork Murder? What did you like least?

The story is fascinating and the writing was even tolerable, despite the author's need to repeat every detail time and time again. I could deal with that, but when I got to the epilogue and tried to listen to the author defend himself against his online reviewers I had to shut it off. I won't be purchasing anymore Steve Jackson books.

Confirmed My Beliefs

Thus book was well written & I detected no bias from the author. This book further confirmed my observations that criminals have more rights than victims. I was disgusted by some of the defense teams antics. They showed a callousness for the victim & her family that was hard to believe. Judges should make it clear upfront that they won't tolerate this garbage in their courtroom. I even listened to the author's comments at the end. Normally, I don't & found myself nodding in agreement - especially regarding the death penalty. I am pro as there are certain heinous crimes like this one that require the death penalty & where there is no doubt who did the crime. It isn't revenge - it's justice.

True Crime at it's Finest

Any additional comments?

"A Clockwork Murder: The Night a Twisted Fantasy Became a Demented Reality" is a story about two unlikely friends whose friendship created a dangerous situation for any women in their vicinity. Inspired by the infamous, violent film "A Clockwork Orange," Woldt and Salmon encouraged a savage desire in each other. Joking became serious and plans for abducting a woman became sincere. Together these two men committed a gruesome crime that I do not believe either one would have committed alone. Together they were capable of murder.

Steve Jackson is a real true crime connoisseur, weaving an intricate and difficult-to-tell tale in a very elegant and satisfying way. Kevin Pierce is easily one of the best narrators on audible! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys true crime - it is a really good one. 10/10

Spellbinding.

Steve Jackson is an excellent True Crime writer. I think he's the best since Ann Rule. And Kevin Pierce is my very favorite narrator. The combination of these two guys makes for books you can't put down. I'm retired so I have plenty of time to be totally absorbed in their reports. The crimes in this case were hard to read about but the case was reported with dignity and compassion it spite of the terrible, terrible reality of What happened to Jaycene.
