Resumen del Editor

Cameron needs a family, and Hannah needs a new life. She accepts Cameron’s offer, marries the lawyer by proxy, and heads for Kansas. It isn’t long after she arrives she discovers her new husband is a deceiving, lying, manipulative man. She dislikes him but has fallen in love with his two darling children. Another Barbara Goss Masterpiece

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. Again Barbara Goss delivers an excellent great story that will fill your heart. Cameron wants to run for the State Senate and is told his chances are better if he has a family. He orders a mail-order bride and marries her by proxy and in the mean time adopts two orphans. Hannah enters this marriage unaware of the lies that Cameron has told her. The author provided a well rounded story that keeps your interest from beginning to end. It is great to see how God works in their marriage. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story.

Telling the Truth

I enjoyed listening to this book. Narration was good. Hannah needs to start her life over and decides to marry Cameron to accomplish it. She marries by proxy and heads to Kansas. She thought life would be better, but her new husband is not being truthful. You cannot start a marriage with lies. She can't leave, as she loves the children already. What can she do now. Follow her journey with faith in God to help her along the way.
I was given a copy of the book by the author for an honest review.

A Bride for Cameron

This is an excellent book. It has a murder mystery in it also. Cameron want to become senator and thinks his chances will be better if he has a family. He gets married by proxy. He tells her a lot of lies that comes out in the end. He could not have picked a better wife. Barbara Goss wrote another great book. Scott Bennett did an excellent job narrating this book. I was giving a free copy of this book but that had no influence on my review.

Enjoyed the couple's partnership and sleuthing

Wonderful story of a smart, proxy bride who moves in to change the world of the serious, single lawyer wanting to appear to be a family man. After listening to some non-fiction books recently about what it was like for women in the 1800s and early 1900s I related to this book on another level. I liked that there were two story lines going for awhile one Hannah got on the case of the murder.

I like the way Barbara sprinkles Christianity and God's love into her books as well. I especially loved the message of grace as it relates to the women of ill repute and the reality that we don't know what really happens in others' lives. I love J. Scott Bennet's voice for this book. He did another great job!

The spinster finds love

Cameron is a bored lawyer who longs to become a politician and is willing to deceive to get what he wants. Unfortunately, his mail-order bride, Hannah, is a religious sort who despises lies. Cameron will do anything to win, even attend church with his bride and newly-acquired children. How long can he continue lying to her? And will she leave him when she discovers the truth?

At the same time, there’s a murder mystery in this small town. The murderer has not been caught and is most likely living among the townspeople. When Hannah takes it upon herself to unravel the mystery of the murder case, Cameron joins his wife in the investigation to help keep her safe.

This is an enjoyable and sweet, short romance. The characters are well developed and the story moves along nicely.

Love and intrigue

The marriage was one of convenience to both Hanna and Cameron. However, they both had very different reasons to wed. Cameron was wanting to appear as a family man to win an election. He was willing to lie to get achieve his goals. Hanna had recently lost her job and had to sell her home to pay the back taxes. She was going to have to move and marriage seemed a good option.
Hannah didn’t expect to be mothering two small children. Worse yet she determines her husband has lied about their origins.
This story was about learning to trust, learning to forgive, and learning to love. There was also a bit of a mystery to solve.

Sweet!

Barbara has a wonderful Christian mind. She brought out Cameron’s problem with a point made by the preacher. He really didn’t know what he was going to face with his lies. Scott did a fantastic job with narrating the story. He had a great delivery of the characters voices.

This story makes you sit back and say, "Ahh!"

The Proxy Bride Series is a sweet Christian series that takes you back in time to when people spent their evenings sitting on the porch in rocking chairs and sipping hand squeezed lemonade. There is just something about the stories that makes you sit back and say, "Ahh!".

The story of Cameron and Hannah starts out on the deceptive side. Cameron has decided to run for office and is told his chances are better if he has a family. Enter the mail-order bride concept and the orphan train. Soon he has his family. Hannah is a godly woman and has no idea what Cameron has done. Once Cameron accompanies her to church, he decides he can't keep the truth from her anymore. Will he lose everything he now holds dear?

The narration by J. Scott Bennett was fantastic! What a great voice for a western story.

I was gifted a copy of this audiobook. All thoughts are my own.

A little bit of everything in this story

5 stars
Can a lawyer pull off a proxy bride and adopted two siblings as a ready made family? Having his new bride thinking the children are really his? Can he pull it off not only with her but to get the state of Kansas to vote him into Senate?
The author adds in the importance of allowing God as your Savior. So through trying to find the new person he has become, it also included a change in attitude toward family and God. Then everything comes into place.
A murder mystery throughout the book keeps you guessing as to who really did the murder.
A wonderfully written book. I enjoyed every moment of it.
I did listen to it and the man did an ok job. I’ve heard him before and have gotten used to him. At first it seemed awkward to have a man read for a woman, but he does do a good job

Christian Historical Romance

Such a cute story premise! Adding a murder mystery was a nice touch. I'm confused how Cameron could act like he was married with children, yet no one would wonder why they had never met his wife and children, or even knew he had a wife and children!
Scott does his usual excellent work narrating this unique story.
