As a freshman in college, Ryan Lundervold was living his dream after getting to start as center fielder for the Butler University baseball team. Yet in his very first game after making a pinpoint throw from the warning track, trouble struck. All Ryan could think about jogging back to his position was the throbbing pain in his arm.

An MRI of his shoulder revealed nothing unusual. Still, Ryan felt something amiss. As a kid playing his first year of college ball, however, he didn’t know the right questions to ask.

Eventually, a mass was detected in his armpit. Before long, Ryan was in the Mayo Clinic enduring a thirteen-hour surgery. Although doctors feared they would find a tumor, they instead discovered that Ryan had violently snapped his bicep and pectoral muscles.

While the injury ended his baseball career, Ryan focused on a career in the financial services industry. He eventually founded Lundervold Financial, a Minnesota company where he serves as President, CEO, and Investment Adviser Representative.

In his book, A Blueprint for Financial Clarity™, Ryan outlines strategies for a vast array of retirement considerations. He acknowledges that the fallout from his outfield mishap shaped the principles he applies to every financial plan he helps build for his clients:
  1. Never underestimate the value of a second opinion
  2. The importance of building trust
  3. The importance of listening
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys coaching football, hockey, and baseball. He also enjoys golf, motorsports, travel, and church. He loves spending time with his wife, Lindsay, and children, Linnea and Brock.
