Questionable advice- but it sounded great!

Although the actual advice the book itself makes sense, I wouldn’t exactly call them 7 ways to beat depression. However the reading of it was great! Solid performance- can’t wait to hear more of what he does!

3 Minutes of Cookie-Cutter Advice

*Spolier alert!* Though this audiobook is priced under three dollars, its three minutes of advice is not worth even that. As someone who is diagnosed with major depressive disorder, this cookie-cutter remedy for depression is ironically laughable. It lists seven methods to “finally beat the blues once and for all.” The third is my favorite: “Try to get along with your family.” I get along with my family fine and at it’s suggestion I suspect that the author, Joe Mayer does not get along with his. “Have a balanced diet.” “Sleep eight or ten hours a day.” “Listen to your favorite music.” The most useful advice is actually the first suggestion: “Visit a professional.” It should have been extended to say, “Visit a professional instead of listening to this book.” The last bit of advice is “Give alternative medicine a chance…After all we are all made of stars.” OMG. It sounds like a bumper sticker. Narration was great though.

I mean it's advice. Common sense, but still.

I don't know how well it will pull you out of a depression but it's Sound Advice to live by none the less. Narrator was great. his tone would be great for a fantasy book or crime novel. The writer....wrote a book. good for him!

Well...that was something...

As someone with mixed bi polar, depression and anxiety I found this “beating depression advice” to be beyond insulting. Where exactly did you get your doctorate Mr. Mayer? The school of misinformed? The university of ignorance? While those methods may help subside your symptoms, please get some actual, well informed advice. “A study of a few babies “ are you f**king kidding me? Maybe you should see a therapist, find out where in your past exactly you thought you had the know how to give anyone advice.
Mr. Burt’s narration should be awarded for getting through this garbage without laughing or throwing up on mic. I hope you get far better gigs than this Mr. Burt, you truly deserve them.

Great Narration - Terrible Advice

Let’s maybe let professionals help people with this? It doesn’t seem that the author has any sort of background in psychology and shouldn’t be publishing such awful misinformation. If you’re depressed, please don’t read this. If you’re depressed:
step 1 throw this book away. step 2 seek professional help. Major props to the narrator! it must take a lot to read something this ridiculous so well. hats off to you, Paul Burt.
