Production was sloppy

Several segments of the book repeated up to two or three minutes of text. At one point it appeared that Alex just re-materialized in his submarine. Don’t know if that was production or the writer.

7 days in may

I was told this was the title of the book I was reading for book club, it was really not one I would have chosen and I wouldn't recommend it. There is another book called Seven days in May with a different author that was our book club book. Wasted time and money on this one.

A Despicable case of bait and switch

I bought this audio book expecting the classic 1962 Cold War Political thriller. What I got, instead, was a ripoff cross of The Birds with a Z grade Industrial espionage story, filled with cardboard characters and lurid deaths. Even more unforgivable, to an aurophile like me, was the fact that the monsters, at least the four legged variety were cats. Most of the characters were extremely poorly developed, with one of the two female leads being little more than a stock damsel in distress, while the other was the typical, and I hate using this term outside of fan fiction, 'Mary Sue' who, at the age of 12, immediately knows how to use a shotgun accurately the first time she picks one up. The worst part is that these are the two most likeable characters. While other characters are enjoyable, almost invariably they are killed, one of them offscreen. As for the main villain of the second half, he is little more than a poorly disguised homicidal spy stereotype, with the added glaring fault that he's also one of the worst hispanic stereotypes I have seen in a very long time. All in all, in my view, this audiobook was hardly worth the electrons it took for me to listen to it, and the reuse of a classic title, probably in a cynical bid to get readers, makes it even worse. I cannot recommend this book at all.
