The book of Esther tells the story of a courageous woman who saves her people from death. Pastor Skip Heitzig shows that God is always in control, no matter how bad things may appear.

I love the book of Esther, and I really enjoy listening to Skip Heitzig, so this audiobook was an easy choice for me. Even though this is an older recording, you can definitely tell the difference compared to his more recent sermons. The audio itself is clear, so it’s easy to follow—I just mean that his newer teachings tend to go much deeper and are less condensed.
What surprised me most is that he covers the entire book of Book of Esther in a single sermon. I would have loved to see him slow down and dig deeper into certain parts, but he still manages to explain a lot in a relatively short amount of time.
One aspect I found especially interesting is the discussion of Haman the Agagite. Haman is such a powerful example of evil in the story, and it’s fascinating to think about his background. As an Agagite, his lineage likely traces back to King Agag, whom King Saul was commanded to destroy. Saul’s disobedience to God allowed that line to continue, which ultimately led to Haman’s existence and his plot against the Jewish people. That connection adds a deeper layer to the story and really highlights the long-term consequences of disobedience.
Overall, I enjoyed this sermon and appreciated how much ground Skip Heitzig was able to cover in one sitting. While I personally prefer his more in-depth, modern teachings, this is still a meaningful and insightful message—especially for anyone who loves Esther as much as I do.
*Love it!

A book about God’s protection of Israel, but God’s not mentioned. Thanks Skip.
