Willing Prey is a truly astounding amount of fun! Intense and scorching and fast paced, full of characters I’ve just met but already gotten attached to, with a love interest who is epically down bad. Immaculate in its filth, as well as a beautifully empowering story about negotiated kink and the thrill of finding one’s perfect match.

I have so much love for this story. I read Willing Prey when it was in its originally novella form so was ridiculously excited to see that Allie had been picked up to write an extra girthy version. I'd been wishing and hoping that there would be an audio version of this for a long time, so when I saw the announcement that it was coming, and then saw the author reveals, I squealed like a pig on honeymoon and promptly started getting my friends on board.

This is a primal play romance with mature characters - by that I mean they're over 25, and HURRAH for that. These are two consenting adults with life experience and a few battles scars of their own, and honestly there needs to be so much more of this.

Claire is a divorced teacher who has been financially stitched up by her narcissistic ex. Shane is her ex-husband's boss who falls for her at a Christmas Party, but he's reticent enough to hold back and only make extremely awkward small talk. Plus she's still married at that stage and he has morals - unlike her ex-husband.

The ex shoots is mouth of at said party and overshares enough about his then-wife for Shane's interest to be piqued. It's not until Claire is divorced that Shane decides he can't stop thinking about her and starts to implement his plan. Specifically, how to discretely approach her with a very polite and generous offer to rail her in the woods.

Is this situation convention? Nope. Endearingly awkward, sweet and hitting me in the feels and random moments? Of course. Allie manages to balance fantastic humour and sass with fantastic spice and emotional hits that make for a very satisfying and entertaining story.

I'm no runner, but I would 100% break into a jog for Shane.

Kudos to Aaron Shedland and Amy Hall, because they absolutely smashed this one out of the park. Willing Prey is one of my favourite reads, and they did the story justice, and even better than I imagined.

Highly, HIGHLY recommend. Get it, read it, love it. You're welcome.
