Resumen del Editor

Remember Tristan from “Clancy’s Collar”? This book explains the heartbreaking reasons behind his unruly behavior and shifting emotions. We meet the sources of much of his pain and watch as he finds solace in the kind Master John Dunn, who becomes the most significant father figure in his life.

Tristan has issues because of his past, and he thinks and behaves younger than his actual age. All he has ever wanted since we met him is to find a loving Dom to collar him.

Gustavo fits that bill and there is an instant connection between them. Unlike every other man Tristan has been with, Gustavo is completely open and honest with him emotionally and physically, but not completely honest about his family and his reasons for being in Ireland. He understands Tristan and what he needs.

Gustavo escaped from his father’s shady business in Spain, causing a permanent rift between them. He settled in Galway, Ireland, where he found a new business rescuing horses. His sub chose not to join him, leaving him single and lonely. Seeking some BDSM play with a submissive, he visits the local club. Little did he know, he would find more than he bargained for.

Both Tristan and Gustavo have baggage: exes who refuse to fade away and family that they desperately want to escape.

When things get tough, Tristan’s emotional pendulum swings wildly, shifting from blaming and resenting Gustavo to blaming himself and believing he’s undeserving of love. HEA.

This book is not a standalone book.

Loved it

I loved this book. James Talbot's voice is amazing and really brings this story to life. Master John Dunn helps Tristan when he needs a place to stay. Tristan's past has given him a lot of issues that deters many Doms. They play with him once and throw him away until Gustavo shows up. Gustavo is from Spain and moved to Galway, Ireland to get away from family issues. He is also friends with Master Dunn. Can they be what the other needs? Will they overcome all the obstacles in there way to finally find happiness together?

Complex characters

We met Tristan in the second book in this series, Clancy's Collar, and he was not the most likeable of characters. It was clear, however, that there were reasons for his attitudes and behaviors that we would learn more about in this, his own book. And those reasons, as we are shown them in this book, explain why Tristan feels and behaves the way he does in a completely satisfactory and heartbreaking way. We meet Tristan's mother here, and she's a real piece of work. Manipulative towards him and willing to let whatever husband she's with at the moment mistreat and belittle him. He finally walks away and is taken in by Master John Dunn who becomes the most significant parental figure in Tristan's life. He's a gem and there's a surprise in store for both him and Tristan early in the book. All Tristan has ever wanted is to be loved and to find a Dom to collar him and love him. Gustavo fits that bill and there is an instant connection between them. Unlike every other man Tristan has been with, Gustavo is completely open and honest with him emotionally and physically, if not completely honest about his family and his reasons for being in Ireland. He understands Tristan and what he needs. If their relationship sounds too smooth, it is. Tristan and Gustavo both have exes who aren't going away so easily and Gustavo has fled Spain to escape what are clearly some shady dealings by his family members he wants no part of. When anything goes wrong, Tristan veers wildly from blame and anger directed at Gustavo to blaming himself and becoming resigned to the fact that he's unworthy of happiness and love and just getting what he deserves. Brady does such a wonderful job letting us see inside this damaged young man and slowly but surely letting us see how he changes under the guidance, support and love of Master Dunn, Gustavo and even Clancy from the previous book. There's mystery, steam and enormous character growth in this story and James Talbot does a superb job of getting to the emotional core of all these characters in all their complexity and bringing that to life with his narration.
