In the King’s Gate neighborhood of King’s Gap, Tennessee, there were certain things you simply did not expect in the enclave of overwhelmingly well-to-do residents.
One thing you did not expect was to return after working away from home for several months after recording a couple of albums to find that your next-door neighbor has hooked up to your municipal water and electricity in your absence.
Considering that that particular next-door neighbor is well known and a prominent author and illustrator of books for children, you would assume that utility bills are not a problem for the very fetching single woman.
In any case, a utility official from the city shows data that records indicate that the theft of service has been ongoing for several months. But when the staffer states his intention to notify the police, Trenton asked for him to give him time to see if the problem can be worked out with his neighbor without involving authorities.
When a confused Trenton Arling goes next door to ask for an explanation, he encounters a confusing reaction. Ashley Corbin at first attempts to downplay the seriousness, explaining that her income took an unexpectedly severe dip. But when she sees that Trenton does not happily and readily agree to let her off the hook and mentions the possibility of a police report, her attitude changes to one of defiance.
But in the course of the heated conversation, she makes a comment that was to bring unanticipated consequences in a variety of ways, mocking Trenton’s displeasure with her actions and attitude by stating that he sounded as if he wanted to give her a spanking.
And then, it got interesting!
