Rachel and Cole absolutely set the tone for this entire series. Rachel starts off thinking she has some control over her life, and that gets ripped away fast. Cole? He is not your typical “nice” MMC he’s dominant, dangerous, and makes decisions that will frustrate you… but you still can’t look away. Their dynamic is intense right from the start, and there’s a constant push-pull between fear, attraction, and survival.
What really stood out to me was how early the authors start weaving in the bigger world—Beau, Kier, and the others are not just background characters. You can already feel their importance building. Nathan and Zack also add layers that make you question who can actually be trusted.
Listening on Audible made the tension even stronger the narrators really leaned into the darker tone, and you could feel the power imbalance and emotional conflict in their voices. Reading on Kindle, I found myself going back to certain scenes just to catch all the details I missed the first time.
By the end, I was already invested in ALL of them not just Rachel and Cole ~ and that’s when you know a series has you.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself ~ you won’t regret it.
