Raintree sure as heck hopes that's not the case. Whenever he infiltrates a scene he really likes, he has to ditch it after the arrest, for obvious reasons. He wants community, wants romance, and more importantly, wants to go rogue with the secretly hacked radionics device at the core of the Salon. The things he desperately wants to do using that machine are out of this world.

Make no mistake about it: the premise of the Portable Threshold device is fabulist, is irreal, is bizarro. If you're expecting realism through and through, move along folks, nothing for you to see here. But underneath the wackiness of this Mystery lies a kind of urgency you can feel in your bones: the necessity to risk letting one’s life-force out fully into transcendent love and bonkers adventure, hedonistically exploring the dubious possibilities beyond the typically accepted limits of human capacity.
