Murder after Night Crawls
Fran: I have a hole in my heart. In fact, I think I only care about a few things. I’m disengaged, discouraged, and not sure I’m making any contribution at all. I care about people. I love working with Todd, and I actually love my job. But how I relate to those things today is about to end because change is in the works. I love my causes and I still contribute to them, but they can’t be everything to me. Everything’s falling apart.

The two men in my life only contribute to my problems. I’ve loved Todd for years, but we decided a long time ago we weren’t compatible romantically. So we have the best friendship and working relationship anyone could ask for. Until this job ends. Then what? We don’t know, but he’ll come up with another income making idea for us. We’re masters at what we do, even if what he’s come up this time seems dubious. Then he springs the master of all surprises on me. It spins me around and upside down. Todd’s leaving me for another woman.

Not only is working now problematic, Detective Reese Dalton of the SMPD is a totally different problem. I know he’s attracted to me, but in two years, he hasn’t made a single move on me, and I’ve given him plenty of openings. When Jupiter, a local club owner is killed after a strange encounter with me, all recorded and uploaded to Todd’s video blog, Reese thinks I’m the killer!

I just take a leave of absence from all of it. I go home. But things aren’t right there either. What’s next?

Murder On the Run
Fran: Trying to my feet back under me after all that’s happened and having reconnected with them eight months ago, I’ve been invited home by my coven to perform our solstice ritual this year. During it, Reese has a big surprise for me, and now I know his true intentions. But then I hear he’s been shot! WTF? I fly home immediately.

Then Todd returns home with a broken heart and an idea for us as a news team. Once he’s home, things begin to click into place. They even turn surprisingly spicy, fast. And he and I are back together working as the successful team we’ve always been.

Reese helped by drawing the attention of Captain Martinez to us, so we’re going to be reporting on the bizarre solved murder case of a fifteen year old girl with so much potential, snuffed out so young. We’ll bring all the important details to light. If we trip over evidence the police can use to solve the still open questions, the better, because DNA found at the scene says Janey’s murderer is a serial killer.

Reese: Fran is amazing. Mesmerizing. Powerful. Next to her, I’m kind of a loss. But she has her ways of bringing me up with her. Until I took the chance, I thought she was a little cool, even fake. I thought she was a liar. I have no reason to think that any longer. It’s so easy to love her, and now that I’m back on my feet, I’m teaching her how to trust herself.

Todd: Fran is more incredible now than I’ve ever seen her, and I thought I knew her better than anyone. I might be wrong about that, and sometimes I feel like the third wheel. I really should bow out of this relationship, but then I’d lose everything. I can’t lose Fran. I can’t lose Reese. How will we ever work this out?
