Dragged Along, Not A Fan - But I'm In Minority

Nevvie is the house cleaner for a gay couple, Tyler and Thomas. They have been strict life partners for over a decade.

Nevvie is also married to an overbearing, verbally, physically & mentally abusive man. He's a do nothing and seems to live to torture her. She lives for her Thursdays, when she can get away and work at Tyler and Thomas' house.

The two men confess to one another that they are attracted to the Nevvie. So overnight, it seems, they decide that they want her to be the third in their relationship. They have had none before and they will have none after.

Sierra Klein had a good performance, though at times I got confused as to who was two – regarding Tyler and Thomas. Other than that (which I blame on the writer) she moved easily in and around the different characters. There were the three main characters but several secondary characters.

The book was juvenile in a lot of how the two men behaved. It was really strange, Tyler and Thomas were always high fiving each other and whispering, like teenage girls, with their "plans." There were long conversations over the phone about how they missed one another which would always end up in the partners… Well, you know.

The intimate scenes did not vary from three, possibly four scenarios and the dialogue was repetitious.

Unfortunately, I'm not really a fan of this book. It is over 14 hours long and I knew the content of the book when I started listening. *I listened, as it was offered to me in exchange for my review. Perhaps it was the length of the book, I have listened to my share of menage a trois books in the past, so please don't think that the material that shocked me into leaving a less than stellar review.

I just don't know. It seems that I am in the minority as I look at other reviews.

I always feel horrible when I have to leave a review for a book that I did not care for. So, Tymber Dalton you are a much braver soul than I for even attempting to write a book. I will probably never be able to do it and I have the utmost respect for your abilities.

5 Love Slave for Two Stars

So in the Beginnings we meet and fell in love with Tommy and Tyler and we got there story of how they fell in love.

We also meet Nevvie right at the end of their story and in this story we fall in love with Nevvie and get to read as they fall in love with her and she with them.

It’s a crazy dynamic but it works. They all need each other in different ways. Sometimes Tyler needs to be the protector and Nevvie gives him that whereas Tommy likes to be the protector of Tyler.

I love that they all are on the same page, I love that Tyler and Tommy were the ones to save Nevvie from her ex it wasn’t one over the other.

I liked the narration, though sometimes I didn’t like the tones of Nevvie but you kind of learn to like it.
Over all I enjoyed this story

Great Love Story

What made the experience of listening to Love Slave for Two the most enjoyable?

The story was fast paced and kept you engaged through out

She did a great job with each character. Great narrator with a good story line made it totally credit worthy

Erotic Enticing Love Story

Would you listen to Love Slave for Two again? Why?

Yes, the story was better than I expected. I was addicted to the story and felt aggravated when interrupted by real life. I loved the story plots and turns.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love Slave for Two?

The hospital portion where Nevvie realizes they are meant to be together.

What does Sierra Kline bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She gives the characters voices that made them seem more alive than if I heard them in my head. Each person sounded different and unique, which for me makes an audiobook more enjoyable.

The story was a tasty escape and also had emotions Taylor was the most moving carictor. It wasn't an average happy ever after. Did I mention it is HOT

Not on par with The Reluctant Dom

Which scene was your favorite?

There is a moment when Thomas, feeling possessive over Nevvie and still angry at Tyler, decides to serve Nevvie breakfast. He takes away Tyler’s self appointed job of making Nevvie a coffee. Remember that Tyler is detail oriented. He is also devoted to pleasing his mates even (especially) in the tiny things that show concern and affection. Tyler avoids Thomas’ wrath by silently going about his morning but he still notices his loved ones’ actions:


Tyler watched as she choked down another sip of coffee. He reached for a mug – hesitated – and grabbed one out of the cabinet that was a duplicate to the one she held.

[waiting until Thomas’ attention is elsewhere]…She thought it was odd the way Tyler turned his back to the kitchen before leaning over her setting his coffee mug next to hers – and then he kissed her and picked up his mug, returning to the kitchen.

When she took her next sip of coffee, hoping she could choke it down – it was perfect. Startled, she looked at Tyler who [waited until Thomas wasn’t looking and] dumped the mug and poured himself a cup of black coffee.

She mouthed a silent Thank You.

He shrugged.

A lesser man would have made a big deal or at least a snide remark to avenge his bruised ego, but not Tyler

Whew. You know what? I may not have been able to really connect to any of the characters, BUT the story was entertaining. I listened all the way through. I wanted to slap each character a couple of times, but I overall I still enjoyed the experience.

NARRATION: Sierra Kline had a full plate with this book – differentiating a number of male and female voices in the cast, plus there were British accents, Southern American accents, Midwestern American accents and a whoooole range of emotions to cover and she did it well! Very nice job.



Now for the dissection::: SPOILERS::SPOILERS::SPOILERS:::

In The Reluctant Dom, Tymber Dalton weaves a story so well that the listener can see how three people, through friendship and grief-stricken revelations, could form a loving bond and even share a partner. The main character makes choices you can see yourself making. Events happen in a way that makes sense. There are funny moments and sad moments and shocking moments and it’s a completely compelling and engrossing listen. I think the problem with Love Slave for Two was that the bar was set so high after listening to The Reluctant Dom that anything less than realistic and heart-wrenching is immediately dimmer in comparison.

Plus. There were events that qualified the characters for the dreaded TooStupidToLive awards.

The story opens with two men who have been committed to each other for over a decade. In a matter of months, they’ve both fallen in love with their housekeeper, Nevvie.

She loves them too – but thinks they are gay, creating conflict when she believes they will never be able to return her deep affection romantically.

She is in an abusive relationship. They beg her to get out of it and move in with them (in an effort to open up the possibility for a romantic relationship, but she doesn’t know this)

Her current relationship is in a seedy part of town with a seedy kind of dude who is verbally abusive, a slovenly leech who drinks away her paychecks, and belittles her confidence at every chance.

They know her man is bad. She knows her man is bad. But when she agrees to leave him, she turns down their offer of protection while she moves her one box of stuff out of her house.

Has she never watched the Lifetime channel?? That’s Disaster Recipe #1 for a domestic disturbance call! (Why couldn’t she collect her one box while she KNEW he’d be gone? Why not have male friends simply stand by in the (in her mind) tiny off chance he’d go ape-psycho all over her bum? (which he does)

TSTL#1.

After he tries to kill her, she refuses to report the crime because she’s had a really bad experience trying to do just that in her past. This is actually understandable – well done Tymber Dalton for writing this scene well, and Sierra Kline narrated this so believably putting in just the right touch of anger, disillusion, and humiliation into her retelling.

But of course, you are afraid that choice will come back to haunt her. It does. But the conflict is resolved almost immediately, again, because of her (solid) reasoning based on past experience.

After she heals, her guys develop & carry out a complicated series of events to let her know they are interested in a poly amorous relationship.

A lot of emotional bonding is sort of happening, erotic encounters commence, the characters all fall deeply in love and make their forever and ever vows to each other. Dalton works hard and writes a lot of scenes to show all the ways in which they care for each other, all the ways they have become essential to the other’s happiness and heart fulfillment and reason for breathing.

And then Nevvie finds a document that shows their initial sexual encounter was scripted. Does she confront them about it? Does she look back on their months together and try to fit pieces together? Does she consider what she knows about her two men, one of them in particular that needs everything planned to a meticulous degree?

Of course she doesn’t. That would get in the way of her TSTL Moment #2.

So she screams, balls her eyes out, slams doors, rapidly begins to pack a suitcase to leave FOREVER, refuses to talk to her two (totally, completely, understandably confused loves-of-her-life) and then abandons her pack-job and races away to find upcycleable packing boxes for her impulsive split from her soulmates in a seedy part of town.

You can guess what happens next. I’d hate to spoil it all so I’ll just let you enjoy and I’ll move along to Guy #2 (Thomas) and Guy #1’s (Tyler) TSTL Moment(s).

Guy #2, Thomas, declares that his 11 years of commitment is OVER when his 6 months plus a couple new love-of-his-life looks like she won’t be with them anymore. And he isn’t just saying this rashly in the heat of the moment – he means it and he is so furious with Guy #1 Tyler that he all but hangs a dead albatross on Tyler’s neck for his one misguided but not intentional (and not really due to his actions at all) crime. Cue massive angst from Thomas who until this point has sort of been a character with all the depth of a cardboard cutout. Now he is pouty and spiteful and furious and less cardboard, but not much more likable because of his holding Tyler unfairly responsible for circumstances he had no hand in, not really.

That gets resolved only to have the next critical thing happen so that Tyler can shine on the TSTL wall of shame. After 11 years of undying love with Thomas and a handful of indescribably amazing months of deep love and affection for a woman that is no longer (unjustly) mad at him what does Tyler do when something bad *might* occur?

He abandons his other halves. His forever-and-ever soulmates. He strands them, taking the vehicle he brought them in, leaves his half of the house, all his belongings, cuts off all contact and vows to himself that he’ll let them go on without him because of a reason that turns out not to be a reason at all.

But they track him down and tell him what an idiot he’s being but assure him they still totally are head over heels for him and they all live happily ever after.

This one is not only hot but it has a wonderful story. I laughed when one of them fell out of bed when they were at his mothers house. The narrator was super good!
