Tugging at the hem of the gown in an attempt to keep herself covered seemed foolish in the extreme considering she was about to lie down on an examination table, with everything on show. She couldn’t stop herself, though, and her fingers pulled at the material.
“If you just come to the table,” Dr. Hudson said and smiled.
It was clearly intended as a reassuring gesture, but Abby felt the hot flutter of her pulse and looked down at the floor. Her gaze stayed on her bare feet as she crossed the floor to stand at the side of the table.
“I’ll just get you in place first,” Dr. Hudson said.
Abby couldn’t look at him as he helped her up onto the table. She was made to lie back then shuffle into position, so she could lift her legs up to bring her feet into the stirrups. There was no covering herself up now as her legs were pushed wide apart. The feeling of having her naked body so utterly exposed to the eyes of a watching man was excruciating and there was no controlling the rush of heat when she saw Dr. Hudson move into position to inspect her.
“Just relax,” he commented.
It was the last thing Abby could do. She sank her teeth into her bottom lip and squeezed her eyes tightly shut…
Dr. Hudson straightened up and her gaze fixed on his white coat. It didn’t go unnoticed, and she glanced up when she heard his comment.
“Just try and relax.”
The smile on his face definitely didn’t appear professional…
