Ever since she was a girl, Mae Lacey has been obsessed with death. She attends stranger’s funerals, lurks in cemeteries, and knows more about the rituals that surround burials than the average person. So, when she moves to a small, Kansas town, it’s not surprising that she befriends the community’s only female gravedigger, Andie Ryan.

But the gravedigger has an obsession of her own: Mae’s new boyfriend, Dale Chamberlain.

Dale is a guitarist in a local band that has been on-the-verge for almost a decade. He still believes the band is just one lucky break away from making it big time, just like his love life. That’s right, almost every woman he’s ever dated has either disappeared or left without any real explanation as to why.

But the wind knows why…the gravedigger.

For years, the gravedigger has lingered on the fringes of Dale’s life, watching him, following him, and scaring away his girlfriends with the threat of her shovel. The same shovel Dale’s latest love interest is using to help the gravedigger out at the cemetery.

This begs the wind to ask the question: Could Mae Lacey be the exception?

The closer the gravedigger gets to Mae, though, the closer she gets to Dale, too, strengthening her desire to make him her own. Eventually, the gravedigger must choose between preserving the only real friendship she’s ever had and giving into the temptation to reach for her shovel one more time.

Told from the ever-shifting perspective of the wind, Leave It Buried is a slow-burn suspense thriller best described as Daisy Jones and the Six meets You with a heavy-handed splash of small town, midwestern angst.
