Resumen del Editor

Empty Nation is a sci-fi, romantic, political satire comedy. The story begins 200 years in the future. In this first volume the framework for the entire series is defined with a wildly concocted futuristic plan by the new United States government to control the economic fate of the world (nothing new).

The two main characters in the series, Mary and Jane, are bred and introduced to the listeners. Their adventures from birth to preschool are humorous and quite amazing. But oddly at the same time they’re being manipulated by the US political system and maintain a pleasantly sedated (government supplied drugs) state in a surrealistic world.

This story has many concepts that are bitter and sweet till you realize you’re listening to fiction. The US government in the future is portrayed as an imperialistic, monstrous demon that’s shunned by all other nations.

The society in the new America crosses some pretty taboo moral lines supported completely by the new US Constitution with Amendments that legitimize its citizens' lewd sexual behavior.

Politics in story form

To be fair, the story seemed to be well thought out and fully flushed out. As to the content -

I couldn't decide if this was someone railing on political viewpoints, or if it was just as messed up of a dystopian society as the author could come up with.

Men are sex-crazes morons, women are frigid isolationists quivering in fear of becoming pregnant, the corporations (which by the way the United States has become one) rape the world, and the government decides to genetically create sex-slaves.

But hey, the narrator did the best they could with what they had.

Just Awful.

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. What I'm about to write is probably not what the author had in mind.

This is one of the worst books I have listened to on Audible. I consider myself open minded, with what I consider to be a good sense of humor, and I think I can appreciate satire of pretty much all persuasions. I like science fiction, and am an avid listener of many different types of erotic and romantic audio. The description of the Empty Nation series sounded intriguing, which is why I agreed to listen and review it.

I don't want to go too far into the details of these books, you can glean them from the descriptions. The reality is worse than the descriptions, what with new born babies being genetically and surgically altered into sperm receptacles by the creation of a Vaganus. These "promiscuous but adorable young creatures " (the author's words, not mine) are classified by the Department of Agriculture as livestock, not human. These "Sissy Whores" are expected to service hundreds of men each day in government run "Whoring Stations." I can't believe the amount of effort the author must have put into the detailed creation of this alternative universe, which comes complete with a government issued "SM-069-16 Sissydom Manual." Perhaps others can appreciate it, but if there is anything worthwhile here, it is going way over my head.

The narrator does as creditable a job as she can with the material she had to read.

Please do yourself a favor and don't waste either your time or your credits on this series.

Very unusual Sci/Fi Fantasy

Story opens well with storyline building steadily. Directions taken in in this story are unexpected due to the rather surprising context. Narration was well done with good vocal pressure. Narrators voice was clear and is pleasing to hear. Some small mispronunciations, but but only a few times.
I recommend this audiobook for mature audiences only due to graphic content.
I was given this audiobook for free and I freely give it my rating and opinion.

NOT FOR ME.!

It was not for me! The narrator did a good job considering the story they had to work with. The author kind of missed with comedy in these stories. The characters and plot are dull. I won't be reading anymore books in this series! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

EPIC...!!!....

This first Empty Nation Bundle of books 1 through 4 is a combination of, Brave new World, 1984, the current administration in the USA and Soylent green. The theme depicts everything (climate, politics, sex, social changes) happening now but 200 years in the future. It is kind of a reverse of the popular series Handmaid's Tale. The Political satire mixed with erotica is not for everyone. But I like when an author puts a different spin on the same story we live daily. This Series brings a breath of fresh air to a changing world. Oh… And oddly enough, nobody dies in it (go figure). It’s like a X rated Disney story. I mean, without the sex scenes it could be rated PG.

Sue Yan Nish, please write more, I'll buy every book in the Empty Nation series.
