Resumen del Editor

A pack is only as strong as its weakest member. Rocky Harris knows how the system works. He’s been on the bottom rung his whole life. But when his alpha consigns him to the High Moon Pack to help them improve security, he finds his beliefs not just challenged but outright assaulted.

Cade Montgomery’s confidence took a hit when the pack’s cubs were kidnapped on his watch. He’s prepared to do anything to protect his family, even if it means working with Rocky. Maybe Cade doesn’t trust Rocky, but with the turmoil surrounding pack Alpha Gray’s unpopular decision to break tradition and mate with a mage named Simon, Cade knows more threats are coming.

Then someone declares war on shifters and puts the entire pack in danger. Cade and Rocky will need each other’s strengths to survive the impending battle - and the power of their growing attraction.

Not a stand alone!

If you could sum up Body Magic in three words, what would they be?

interesting, easy and stuff

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

it definitely made me want to keep reading on to the 3rd book. I want to know more about Simon and gray and their family. I found cade and rocky a little blah!

Have you listened to any of Robert G. Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I thankfully listened book 1 first and i like his reading and expression!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

umm yea, but i think the first book definitely a better read.

Good series, solid narration

This is the sequel to Body Magic and we see a lot of Simon and Gray in this – maybe even more than Rocky and Cade. Simon and Gray are really hammering out their relationship and helping Simon prepare for his full powers.

Simon waffles back and forth between wanting to trust his love for Gray but also wanting to be a good and independent wizard, separate from the pack and Gray.
His uncle helps him work through his emotional issues and his magickal issues as they prepare for his ceremony. But… there is discord and someone has infiltrated the pack – spying on the forbidden mating between shifter and wizard. When war breaks out there are people going to be hurt and Simon has to choose his side.

Meanwhile, as almost a side note, Cade and Rocky start a relationship only to be stopped cold when Cade realizes that Rocky was sent there to spy on the pack. Rocky is a very conflicted character and he needs someone as solid as Cade to help him get over his issues. Cade is shocked at first but with a minimum of fuss the two work out that Rocky has loyalty to the pack and the pair make a tentative agreement to work on a relationship together.

**

Overall, this was a great second book in terms of seeing Gray and Simon develop more fully as a couple. I would have loved to see more of Rocky and Cade as they were equally engaging characters that didn’t get much page time.

I’m looking forward to the next two installments!

Audio:

Robert Davis does a really nice job with the narration. Nothing too over the top but very clear and he tries to differentiate all the different characters’ voices.

I’m looking forward to his narrations in the upcoming books as well.

I give both the book and the audiobook 4 of 5 stars.

Not a favourite

I usually love my paranormal romances, and I so much want to continue with the series, but I wont put myself through the frustration and torture listening to this narrator. He is almost bearable but this self sacrifice is done. Im used to much better and can understand that other reviewers are able to listen to it, but even at 1.5 speed I still feel like the Im listening to a bunch of kids in a play. The books are better off being read as the story is actually interesting.

Not as great as book 1

Definitely a filler book...

This is a great m/m Romance paranormal series; however, this book is not as action packed as Book 1. It's a good story about the security wolf from book 1 and Cade, the alpha's best friend and the high moon pack's enforcer.

I just didn't agree with some smexing parts, but it was ok. I think this book is need to enjoy book 3, as all the main action happens at the end, and all three book are like a day or so apart in the timeline/ storyline.

Good credit or sale if planning to buy series, if not....well skips as it is not a stand alone.

Narration was ok...

Feels More Like Filler

I still highly dislike the narration choices of Robert G. Davies, but aside from nothing changing in quality from the first book, this one just comes across as excessively boring and feels more like filler. Considering I tend to write essays for my reviews, the only note I have on this book is that Kade creeped my out when he talked about it being dangerous for Rocky to turn his back on him, because Kade can't control his sexual urges. This is a theme that I've come across again in my own fanfiction collaborations when I was a wee little 20 year old. And I am just as disgusted with myself. Can we learn to express lust and desire without hinting that the characters are only barely holding themselves back from literal assault? I hate it.

Aside from that, the standard pointless conflict that could be addressed by simply having a conversation is present, which just gets the usual eye roll.

I will give it points for flipping the expectation on the roles, as I am always a fan of dominant omegas/smol bois, and submissive hulks. So that very small part of the story was at least something I legitimately liked.

I can't say I really care much about Kade or Rocky, which probably is a large reason why nothing in this book seemed to matter. But, even in terms of the over arching plot elements that tie the series together, this was so slow, and tedious, and could have been condensed into the first and third books instead.
