Is the unexamined life
not worth living? I personally wouldn’t go quite that far, but I do think Socrates had the right idea. I mean, how are we any different than moths flitting from porchlight to porchlight if we don’t stop from time to time to wonder why?Speaking of animals and existential questions, I’ve learned so much from my pets over the years. (More on that below.) In fact, I’d say the act of listening—to women, to self-dev rock stars, and to myself—has helped me grow more than anything else.
In the age of overwhelming information, who are you listening to and learning from? Even for us self development buffs, I think it’s a question worth asking again and again—to keep ourselves honest, and to figure out where we’re going (and why).

What's Your Power Animal?
I’ve had pets all my life, and they’ve all taught me something about myself. My hamsters showed me that inexhaustible curiosity will overcome any obstacle. My rabbits’ delicate and complex emotional lives made me realize I too often dismissed my own feelings. In How to Be a Good Creature, Sy Montgomery will teach you to see yourself anew through the eyes of your furry familiars.

She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people - whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee....

Girl, Don't Stop Talking
Rachel Hollis is an alchemist. In her brand new book Girl, Stop Apologizing (with bonus content exclusive to Audible) she takes truisms we hear every single day—the same ones we ignore over and over, like drinking more water and eating healthier—and unifies them into a personalized whole that somehow seems much more achievable than the individual parts. Her ability to transmute the mundane into magic is exceptional and rare, and after finishing this listen, I found myself wishing I could prolong said magic.

Don't Get Caught in the Net (Gains)
The obstacles to success in modern business and life are many. Noam Wasserman outlines a few of these in Life is a Startup. For example, golden handcuffs incentivize you to stay with your current company due to deferred compensation, while psychic handcuffs
prevent you from pursuing new opportunities due to the fear of, say, moving away from loved ones. Whether your bottom line is financial or existential in nature, this listen outlines a variety of ways to remove the restraints that hold you back while embracing the ones that keep you grounded.
