The concert presents the musical life of iconic writer Ralph Ellison in music, words, and images. The acclaimed author of the National Book Award-winning Invisible Man was an accomplished trumpeter and close to many of the great jazz innovators of his time. The star-led evening in Philadelphia includes iconic Labelle recording artist Nona Hendryx, 2017 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition winner Quiana Lynell, Lizz Wright, the Andy Farber Jazz Orchestra from the Broadway show After Midnight, and leading Ellison scholar Robert O’Meally.
