Furry, finned, and feathered friends listen, too!
We dogs are known for our sharp noses and keen hearing. (I love to sing with far-off sirens!) A few months ago, my person decided that part of our bedtime routine (after walks, snacks, and pjs) would include listening to a story. I was confused at first—who was that talking?—but now I love my stories and won’t even lie down to sleep until they start! I decided to ask some other furry Audible friends about their favorites so I could start planning my next bedtime listen.— Trigger of Brooklyn (as told to Heather S., Audible Editor)-

I haven’t met hobbits or Gandalf or elves, but I like them!
Every night after we take a walk, have a snack, and get into bed, my person says, “It’s time for stories!” At first I was confused by the new voices, but then I started listening carefully. My favorite story is the one with Frodo and his golden ring. When the man starts talking, I lie down, listen carefully, and dream about being the tenth member of The Fellowship of the Ring. And I hope that the next time Heather and I have an adventure we pack a second breakfast and don’t run into any orcs!

Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory is opening at last! But only five lucky children will be allowed inside. And the winners are: Augustus Gloop, an enormously fat boy whose hobby is eating; Veruca Salt, a spoiled-rotten brat whose parents are wrapped around her little finger; Violet Beauregarde, a dim-witted gum-chewer with the fastest jaws around; Mike Teavee, a toy pistol-toting gangster-in-training who is obsessed with television; and Charlie Bucket, our hero, a boy who is honest and kind, brave and true, and good and ready for the wildest time of his life!

Chocolate is LIFE
Anyone who knows dogs knows one eternal truth: we are obsessed with trying to eat chocolate. Since humans seem to be steadfastly against sharing their tantalizing delicacies, the next best thing is listening to a book about a fellow cocoa enthusiast who hits the jackpot: visiting a chocolate factory. Douglas Hodge’s delightful English accent sounds like audible chocolate, and that’s probably as close as I’ll ever get to tasting the forbidden treat. But a hound can dream!
Human’s note: Chocolate is poisonous to pets – but audiobooks are not!

Love is Forever on Planet Janet
Because Janet has lived so many lives already, we’d like to recommend Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit. I think immortality resonates with dogs—we don’t change much during their lives, so is it possible they think we live forever?

A clowder (group) of cats I can truly admire
Ever since my human introduced me to the magical felines of Erin Hunter’s Warriors series a few months back, I’ve been waiting with bated tuna fish breath to get my claws into the most recent audiobook, Lost Stars (Warriors: The Broken Code, Book 1). I’ll be honest: before the nightly listening sessions, the most exciting part of my day was watching sparrows on the fire escape. But these intrepid, loyal cats with mystical powers in their paws inspired me to live by my own “warrior code”: not tearing up the couch, making my human feel loved, and limiting my cat nip use to just once a week.

Story
Ursula K. Le Guin wrote this highly acclaimed novel about a very special litter of kittens. Mrs. Jane Tabby has always longed toget away from the cramped alleys of the city. She knows it is too late for her, but she thinks her longing may be the reason her litter of kittens was born with wings. When they are old enough to fly, she sends the four kittens, who become known as catwings, out into the world to find their home. But they find that danger does not lurk only in city alleyways.

Cats can fly?! What?
Why has no one told me that cats can have wings?! This Ursula K. Le Guin woman has been divulging this secret to humans through the guise of her Catwings tales of four flying kittens. Lucky for me my human Ruth plays these stories out loud and the secret is out. I, too, want to soar through the sky, breezing over trees and fields and landing to drink from streams and to dine on freshly caught fish. It’s going to happen too. I may not have been born with wings like these kittens but I’m building a pair out of the string and paper balls and toy wands Ruth leaves around the apartment for me. Why would she do this if not to enable me to fly? Now if I could only figure out how to open the window….

Story
Living with his little brother, Fudge, makes Peter Hatcher feel like a fourth grade nothing. Whether Fudge is throwing a temper tantrum in a shoe store, smearing mashed potatoes on the walls at Hamburger Heaven, or scribbling all over Peter's homework, he's never far from trouble. He's a two-year-old terror who gets away with everything, and Peter's had enough.

Definitely not a waste of credits.

This comic tale is the tragic story of my life!
A few years ago my disobedient “niece” came to live with us – she’s so bad! She hogs all the attention, and she steals my toys, and she’s really loud. So when I heard that Peter Hatcher (who is 9 years old and lives in NYC – just like me!) had the *exact same problems* with his little brother, I decided to spend a credit to learn more. Judy Blume, author of my other favorite book, Tiger Eyes, narrates Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing; she sounds witty and kind and like an author who might appreciate a plump, modest cat of great erudition… (Hi, Judy!) By the end of the audio, Fudge turns out to be more rambunctious than a kitten, so I have a lot of sympathy for Peter. Let’s just say it’s not always easy to be the Top Cat, ok?

Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

Ever since my human listened to this title, I have so many more of what’s most important to me: smooth, empty spaces around the apartment to lie on. Talk about a book that changes your world!
