Like Ryan B., I too listened to Audibles while I made instruments! I was a piccolo and flute maker for Burkart Flutes in central Massachusetts. We work for entirely separate companies. I've listened to A Song of Ice and Fire, Lord of the Rings, and countless other audibles while I worked! Now, I will be listening to them as I edit photos as a photographer.

“Flag of the Fallen”: 6,758 pieces of spent ammo. 1 in honor of each American that made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan. Took almost 1,000 hours. So many books, predominantly the Dresden Files, and the Iron Druid Chronicles.

"Bubbles" by Jennifer M.
This piece is called "Bubbles", and I worked on it while listening to Earth’s Children series. More specifically Valley of the Horses and The Mammoth Hunters. I always listen to books while working on my artwork, and always associate the book with the piece. I had not decided on how to make the water look the way I wanted, the horizontal part. I kept trying to use a palette knife, and it just didn’t look right. I finally just squeezed the tube straight on to the canvas, in a thick wave, and it worked perfectly. I can still hear Ayla talking, and feel my wrist turn with the paint tube in hand.

I also like to just give them away—anywhere I go, I wear one of my creations and if I meet somebody who falls in love with the piece, I give it to them. It is an amazing feeling to make people so happy.
