Bahni Turpin

Bahni Turpin

Bahni Turpin has been voicing bold, groundbreaking titles–such as The Help and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks–throughout her career. She was Audible's Narrator of the Year in 2016, the year she narrated books such as Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad, Zora Neal Hurston’s autobiography Dust Tracks on a Road, and Sister of Mine, an imagined Civil War-era take on the family drama, for which Turpin won an Audie Award.

And then came The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas’s debut novel that jumps into the conversation around social justice through the eyes of a special young African American girl named Starr as she deals with the death of her friend at the hands of a white police officer. Turpin’s embodiment of characters helps to further pull you into the author’s world and drive home the pain and emotion they are carrying.

Turpin is also a stage and screen actor, appearing on shows like Criminal Minds, and is a member of the Cornerstone Theater company. Among her many other non-acting pursuits, she’s a longtime yoga instructor.
