Daisuke Ogawa Educator / Director of the Institute for Talent Type Parenting Visiting Professor, iU (Professional University of Information and Management for Innovation) Born in Osaka in 1973, Daisuke Ogawa graduated from the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University. While still a student, he gained prominence as a top instructor at a major preparatory school. After graduation, he founded SS-1, a private tutoring school specializing in junior high school entrance exams, based on professional coaching by adult instructors. He developed a unique educational method that rapidly improves academic performance by leveraging each child's individual “talent type.” With over 30 years of experience in entrance exam instruction and more than 8,000 one-on-one consultations, Ogawa is known for his deep insights not only in exam strategy but also in nurturing children's abilities from early childhood and building strong parent-child relationships. His mission is to “create a society where every child can fully express their talents.” He actively promotes “Talent Type Parenting,” a methodology that helps discover and draw out each child’s hidden potential. Ogawa practices what he preaches. With his only son, he nurtured what seemed like unrelated interests—such as collecting train timetables and a deep fascination with the anime "Ojarumaru"—as important forms of curiosity. As a result, his son was accepted to all of Japan’s top junior high schools (Nada, Kaisei, and Tsukuba University Secondary School) and is now pursuing medical research at Kyoto University’s School of Medicine. His consistent stance—both as the originator of the theory and a practicing parent—has resonated widely, leading to frequent appearances on television, magazines, and at public lectures. He is the author of over 25 books, including: A Parent’s Dictionary of Effective Rephrasings to Unlock Their Child’s Potential (Seishun Publishing) Supportive Parenting Practiced by Parents of Smart Kids (KADOKAWA) Smart Kids’ Living Rooms Always Have a Dictionary, Map, and Picture Book (Subaru Publishing) Ogawa has appeared in over 700 media programs and given numerous lectures. He currently serves as CEO of Sozaitosho Co., Ltd. and Director of the Institute for Talent Type Parenting®, leading the development of innovative educational services based on the proprietary diagnostic system Kodomo to Megane, which identifies children's talent types across 90 unique combinations.
