Eileen Schnabel had taught law for ten years when she wandered into a local cemetery and spotted the grave of a soldier who’d served under George Washington. Thinking of the hardships of Valley Forge and the sacrifices of those early soldiers, she wondered if modern Americans still had the grit to fight the Revolutionary War. To answer that question, she sent four kids back in time to Boston, 1775, to take Paul Revere’s midnight ride, hang the famous lanterns at Old North Church, and rescue John Hancock and Samuel Adams from hanging as traitors to the crown. Eileen’s husband and two sons were eager to take on the time-travel adventure, but she insisted they remain in the twenty-first century. For now, the family lives in Wisconsin with their golden doodle, Piper, but something that looks like a time machine is taking form in basement, so stay tuned for book two. Eileen has an MA in journalism from Stanford University and a JD from the University of Iowa. You can find out more at www.eileenschnabel.com.
