William F. Sine was born in Warren, Ohio on June 7, 1957 and entered the U.S. Air Force after graduating high school in 1975. Senior Master Sergeant (retired) Sine has over twenty five hundred flying hours earning him the Chief Aircrew Member Badge and is also authorized to wear a Static Line Master Parachutist Badge, Military Master Freefall Parachutist Badge with a bronze star indicating a combat jump, and a Combat Scuba Diver Badge. After twenty eight years of distinguished service, Sergeant Sine retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2003. Mr. Sine is the author of a non-fiction book, Guardian Angel: Life and Death Adventures with Pararescue, the World’s Most Powerful Commando Rescue Force, which describes many of his exciting rescue missions and those of some of his teammates. Guardian Angel is an award winning finalist in the 2013 International Book Awards sponsored by USA Book News, received a laudatory review in the 2013 Spring Edition of the prestigious Journal of Special Operations Medicine and a 5 Star review from the professional book reviewer Readers Favorite. Pararescuemen, also known as PJs, form an ultra-elite commando rescue force of less than five hundred men. Training lasts almost two years, and only 15% of PJ candidates ultimately graduate. PJs rescue shot-down jet pilots from deep within enemy territory and also participate in humanitarian rescue missions around the globe. In peace and in war, PJs live their motto, “These Things We Do, That Others May Live.” In 2005, Mr. Sine became the first civilian PJ Apprentice Course Instructor in history and continues to teach at the Pararescue and Combat Officer School at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Mr. Sine has a lovely wife Debra and an amazing son William who is a hard-as-nails Recon Marine. William and Debra also share their home with Radisson the rescue cat and The Mighty Samson, a five pound Shi Tzu. Sergeant Sine’s major military awards and decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism, Airman’s Medal for heroism, and the Purple Heart.
