Wendy Ledger

Wendy Ledger

When I was young, I was grateful for streetlights. it gave me an opportunity to read at night during car trips. I thought books were magical and should not be read just once. Ramona Quimby was my literary friend. I read Little Women over and over, hoping that this time Jo would marry Laurie and Beth wouldn't die. I had a dream of reading every book in the middle-grade section of my childhood public library, but first I had to read about Wilbur and Charlotte one more time.

Early on, I knew I wanted to write. I carried a notebook, just like Harriet the Spy. I tried to write every day. Being a novelist seemed impossible and the coolest job in the world to land.

When I did start writing my books, I found I wanted to write to the tween girl in my heart, that child who loved books, music, and horses, the girl who confided in cats. These books are dedicated to middle-grade kids and to the adults who still remember the magic of that time.

I regularly post in these places and love hearing from readers:
