Vic Lindblom retired from a mechanical engineering career, having spent most of those 42 years designing mobile equipment: earthmoving, industrial, and military, both tracked and wheeled vehicles. Civilian firms did not waste engineering effort, but the three military howitzers, to which Vic contributed, never went into production. Vic grew up in Michigan and earned his undergraduate engineering degree at the University of Michigan, during which time he sang and danced in six Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and served as UMG&SS treasurer for two years. While qualified to enter the engineering profession, an Army commission put that on hold for three years. While in the Army, he gained a second profession as a believer in Christ, which eventually led him to complete a seminary degree in Chattanooga at 37. At 72, Vic performed as MG Stanley in Pirates of Penzance with a community theater. Over a lifetime of pursuing work and education, home moved from state to state: Michigan, Kansas, Illinois, Tennessee, Minnesota, Virginia, Maryland, and finally to Wisconsin, where he and his wife live in Oshkosh, best known for its annual Air Adventure fly-in. Vic married Mary in the bicentennial year. While in Illinois they produced three children, who were much slower in providing six grandchildren for PopPop and Granma to enjoy. Besides enjoying grandchildren, Vic enjoys Bible teaching, furniture making, singing, and writing.
