Vanessa A. P. is a nutritionist, mother, and the author of Life After Emotionally Immature Parents. Her work tackles the subject of healing from emotional abuse and breaking the cycle of trauma, and it is built on her own healing journey. Having lived happily with her grandmother until she was 12 years old, Vanessa spent her teenage years in a complex new dynamic with her mother and stepfather. She later came to understand that the route of her problems was the emotional unavailability of her parents, and their behavior had ramifications on her life for many years to come. Once she became a parent herself, Vanessa felt compelled to address her past issues in order to make sure she was the mother she wanted to be to her daughters. Vanessa has studied and researched emotional abuse extensively, combining everything she’s learned with her own therapy and life experience to produce a guide aimed at helping children of emotionally immature parents to live a full and happy life, free from the damage caused to them in childhood. She focuses on breaking the cycle so that harmful behaviors are left in the past and are not passed onto future generations. Vanessa is of the firm belief that what happened to you in the past does not have to frame your future, and she’s determined to help others achieve the peace and clarity she’s found for herself. Vanessa lives with her husband and two young daughters, with whom she would happily spend all her time if she could. She loves dogs and is constantly inspired by the unconditional love and emotional openness they offer us every day.
