Valerie M. Jones, CFRE, is a dynamic and sought-after speaker who has addressed audiences from Baltimore to Beijing. Jones’s talks are part of the curriculum of for LEADERSHIP Philadelphia Fellows and the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s Business on Board course. Other notable audiences include the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, International Association of Fundraising Professionals, Dress for Success International, and the American Lung Association. Jones is CEO of Valerie M. Jones Associates, a development consulting firm in the Greater Philadelphia area. Drawing on more than 25 years in the nonprofit sector, she advises clients on board development, capital campaigns, strategic planning, grants writing, prospect research, and major gifts. Jones has raised more than $175 million for arts, cultural, and environmental organizations, most with budgets of $1million to $5 million. Jones's book, Nonprofit Hero, Five Easy Steps to Successful Board Fundraising, based on her signature asking method. She has taught thousands of volunteer and professional fundraisers to ask for gifts in ways that are authentic and inspired, smart and successful. She is a LEADERSHIP Fellow, an alumnus of the American Express Leadership Academy, and recipient of the William Donaldson award for civic and community leadership. Jones was a U.S. finalist for the Rhodes’ Scholarship in the year women were first allowed to compete and earned her B.A. in Anthropology and Art from Hamilton College.
