Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Thomas Cirignano moved to South Boston as a young man. He took over his father's auto repair shop in the heart of "Southie" during the reign of mob boss, James "Whitey" Bulger. His experiences at that shop were often surreal. Only through pure luck did Tom survive numerous life-threatening situations. Tom's true-life story is titled "Memoirs of a South Boston Mechanic." Due to its time and place in Boston's tumultuous history and the situations Tom encountered, "Memoirs of a South Boston Mechanic" is an exciting story that vividly demonstrates how crucial the everyday decisions we all make in life can be. It's an inspiring memoir about thriving within challenging environments, never giving up, and always pursuing your dreams. The second book in this series is, "67 Cents: Creation of a South Boston Killer". It is a fictional adaptation of Tom's memoir in which the author explores the intense and dangerous alternate path to crime, violence, and easy money which truly was available to him. Within "67 Cents: Creation of a South Boston Killer" Tom's character, "Nick", says "Yes" to each and every offer that was made to Tom in real life by both the Italian Mafia, and "Whitey's" Irish Mob. Those offers were significant and even included an offer to kill a man for Tom. Saying "yes" to these offers changes everything. There was no turning back after that. * "67 Cents: Creation of a South Boston Killer" is a gritty story with violence and very strong adult language. The author does not recommend "67 Cents" for younger or sensitive readers. Alternately, "Memoirs of a South Boston Mechanic" was written to be enjoyed by all age groups of readers. Tom Cirignano is a certified scuba diver, ultra-light aircraft pilot, has owned several motorcycles, and loves boating. Unfortunately, a spinal fracture, scoliosis, and several major back surgeries have limited his ability to enjoy most of those activities. He has been a contributing writer and served as an advisory member on "The New Bedford Standard-Times Newspaper Editorial Board." He served two terms on The Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee and has served on several other town committees and commissions.
