I began the first draft of what would be my first book, novel Love Don't Live Here around 1991 while incarcerated. In 2003 I would try my hand at self publishing the book. I quickly realized I didn't know enough about the book publishing process, and so I took a 18 month hiatus to basically study on my own. In 2005 I released the revised edition of Love Don't Live Here via Third Eye Publishing, Inc my first company. Independently, some NYC & Long Island street vendors and booksellers would go on to sell the first print run of 5,000 books within 6 months. This is proof that no matter how long it takes, that if you keep going, keep learning, and keep working, you will fulfill your objectives. 12 years after begin the first draft I would go on not just to be published, but to also do it myself. My publishing journey hasn't been all glory and gains. I've sold a whole lot of books, made a whole lot of money. At the same time I've taken huge financial losses, personal and business setbacks. I even had to leave writing alone for a bit and go on and do other things. You know what though? Sometimes our failures and setbacks are really what we need to go on and learn things that we need to know. I now have 13 books. Have expanded my writing from fiction to also include nonfiction and I've broaden my ideas in regards to writing to include other types of products besides books. Through Therone Shellman Media I'm continuing this journey. Three books are in various development stages and will be released 2024.
