Suzanne Tyrpak

Suzanne Tyrpak

I write fiction, because fiction allows me to speak truth. My writing is eclectic: Historical (ancient Rome and Greece), contemporary, and Horror/Psychological under the name Zané Sachs.

Published novels under Suzanne Tyrpak include: Vestal Virgin (suspense in ancient Rome), Hetaera (suspense in ancient Athens), and Rosy: a Novel. Short story collections include Ghost Plane and Other Disturbing Tales, and Dating My Vibrator (and other true fiction).

Under Zané Sachs: Sadie the Sadist (novel) and Sadie's Guide to Catching Killers (novella).

I love to travel, and I recently spent several months in Asia. i've also been to Egypt, Greece, Italy, and Turkey doing research for novels. I'm interested in the daily lives of ancient people, especially women, and how history reflects in contemporary life.

Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers awarded me first prize in the Colorado Gold Writing Contest for my (unpublished) novel, Sisters of the Nile. Maui Writers awarded me third prize in the Rupert Hughes writing competition for Agathon's Daughter. (Hetaera is Book One of the Agathon's Trilogy.) My short story Downhill was first published in Arts Perspective Magazine. Rock Bottom is published in the Mota 9: Addiction anthology, available on Kindle. Ghost Plane was published by CrimeSpree Magazine. Venus Faded appears in the anthology Pronto! Writings from Rome (Triple Tree Publishing, 2002) along with notable authors including: Dorothy Allison, Elizabeth Engstrom, Terry Brooks, and John Saul.
