Suzanne Chazin was born on the lower East Side of Manhattan, just down the street from Engine 5, the only child of immigrants. Her father was from the Ukraine; her mother, from England. A former journalist, Suzanne is the award-winning author of two mystery/thriller series. Her first stars Georgia Skeehan, a scrappy New York City firefighter-turned-arson investigator and single mom. Hailed as "red-hot" (USA Today), with a heroine who "dazzles" (People Magazine) it draws on her husband's decades of experience as a high-ranking chief in the FDNY. Her second series stars Jimmy Vega, a Hispanic homicide detective navigating the world of the undocumented in upstate New York. The Jimmy Vega series, inspired by Suzanne's extensive work with the Latino community as well as her own immigrant background, has received multiple starred reviews in Publisher's Weekly and Library Journal, been selected as an Amazon Mystery Pick of the Month and been shortlisted among the five best mysteries of the year by the American Library Association. A graduate of Northwestern University, Suzanne worked for two decades in journalism, writing for Reader's Digest and The New York Times, and winning several national awards. Among her quirkier experiences as a journalist: profiling a doctor who used his kitchen ceiling fan as a centrifuge (he went on to win the Nobel Prize in medicine for his work), and visiting a small Georgia town that had a parade in her honor because they got the funny idea that she was actually somebody important. Thank God her novel-writing career has disabused her of any such notion. For more information, visit Suzanne at www.suzannechazin.com or www.facebook.com/suzannechazinauthor
