I'm obsessed with horses. I'm an old person and ride. I have fears and funs. I ride with the best people in the world. Tony and Jennifer Vaught are natural horsmanship trainers, clinicians and instructors. It's been their job to keep me safe and having fun with horses since the late 90's.
After Tony and Jenny moved to Florida, I started taking lessons from Erin Stevens Patterson. She develops both people and horses and is based in the Kansas City area. Erin also shows Fox Trotters and Ranch Horse quarter horses.
I discovered Missouri Fox Trotters as an adult. The gaits are intriguing. I could never go back to a horse that has only three gaits; walk, trot and canter. How much do you have to learn to understand the flat foot walk, running walk, pace, fox trot, fox walk, rack etc. The answer is...it takes a lot of "feel".
I write stories about my experiences with horses, a mule and three wild hackney ponies. The horse is my teacher. I erroneously think that I'm developing the horse. But it turns out, it's always the horse that is training me! Join up with me and the journey!
I have written three books about my journey with horses. I'm more experienced now, but that doesn't seem to matter when taking a journey with a young green horse. Things always happen and they are fun to read about! I’m riding Fancy now who will certainly be Book #4! I’ve never had a horse like Fancy.
