Stephen Aizenstat is a professor of depth psychology with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, author, and a licensed marriage and family therapist. He is Chancellor Emeritus and Founding President of Pacifica Graduate Institute, and Founder of Dream Tending and the Academy of Imaginal Arts and Sciences. For more than 35 years, he has explored the power of dreams through depth psychology. He has collaborated with Joseph Campbell, Marion Woodman, Robert Johnson, James Hillman, and Native elders worldwide. The Imagination Matrix is a visionary new approach to expanding one's creative resources—a proven system based on four decades of rigorous scholarship and practical applications road-tested with students, clients, and global workshops, that’s rooted in the belief that by accessing our deep imagination, we are able to activate limitless creativity and innovation, improved relationships, and ultimately our human potential. He has contributed to the books Beyond Heroics: Living Our Myths by Madeline McMurray and For the Love of Dream: Intro to Tending Your Nighttime Dreams by Marilyn O'Brien PsyD. With Robert Bosnak, he is the editor of the essay collection Imagination and Medicine: The Future of Healing in an Age of Neuroscience. Dr. Aizenstat’s scientific writing has been published in the journal Spring, the Eranos Yearbook, and other scholarly books and internationally recognized journals. He conducts dreamwork and imagination seminars throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. An organizational consultant to leading tech companies and a content advisor to Hollywood filmmakers, Aizenstat has lectured extensively on the experiences of dreams and the deep imagination. He is affiliated with the Earth Charter International project through the United Nations.
