Now retired, Stan Comforti writes crime mystery thrillers based on his thirty-year career as a law enforcement veteran. He was a federal air marshal before becoming a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). As a field agent, he worked numerous investigations against drug dealers, outlaw motorcycle and street gang members, and felons who possessed, stole, traded, or trafficked firearms. Many of his field assignments involved working undercover. As a supervisor in Massachusetts and Connecticut, he directed many high-profile investigations, including a murder-for-hire case where a father paid an undercover agent to kill his daughter by placing an explosive device under her car. ATF arrested the father before any harm came to his daughter. Another investigation involved the unlawful sale and possession of firearms, including a machine gun that involved police officials, one of whom was also engaged in a major police exam-scam operation. For seven years, he was a leader of Boston ATF’s Special Response Team. He led many early morning arrest and search warrant raids against drug dealers and gang members who illegally possessed and used firearms in their illegal operations.
