Stafford Betty has published numerous full-length scholarly articles in journals in his field and thirteen books, five nonfiction and eight fiction. Two of these, What Does It Mean to Be a Christian? A Debate and The War for Islam (a novel), are in the process of being released. His most significant contribution to knowledge is his three research books on the afterlife: The Afterlife Unveiled (2011), Heaven and Hell Unveiled (2014), and When Did You Ever Become Less by Dying? Afterlife: The Evidence (2016). His historical novel Thomas (1998), the story of the Apostle Thomas' travels in India, was published by Penguin India as a Penguin Original and shows how he unites his skill as a researcher to his craft as a creative writer. His most recently completed novel, The Afterlife Counselor, is being marketed, and he is well into his next novel, The Catholic. In addition to his books are numerous essays and oped articles, including many in The Huffington Post. Jeffrey Mishlove has featured him five times on his prestigious New Thinking Allowed series, available on YouTube. He has given radio interviews all over the world, most recently in the UK, on his research. When he's not writing, he's teaching his course on death and afterlife at California State University, Bakersfield. His Ph.D. in theology came from Fordham, where he concentrated on Asian religious thought and gained a reputation as a gifted Sanskrit scholar. He is married with five children.
