Shae Sparks is a mother and nutritionist by day, and an elusive non-fiction writer by night. The topics she has chosen to write about are close to her heart because she believes the American diet could use a bit of a change, and she unnaturally enjoys discovering new recipes to cook for her family. When she discovered the many different, viable diets out there, she decided she’d put some more research into them and create short, easy to read books for people who don’t have a lot of time to learn about diet, but those who want to change their lives for the better. What comes first for Shae is her family; however, her passion for nutrition and research is a close second. But that’s not all that she enjoys! Shae Sparks can be found planning out her garden all winter long, making it much more extensive than it really ought to be. Revising her plan in the spring to actually fit the space she has without making her husband dig up even more ground on their small plot of land, and then nurturing her seedlings to adulthood where they produce the family’s fresh supply of vegetables all summer long. When she doesn’t have to fight off any critters or an errant husband eating her fresh vegetables straight from the vine, she has plenty to can and store in her freezer. In addition to human nutrition, Shae also has studied pet nutrition. She makes her own dog food for her furry child and encourages others to do the same. Fresh ingredients and proper nutrition for every household member, whether they’re furred or not, is essential to her. Her dive into the world of diets began when she struggled to lose weight after her second child. While children are a blessing, they tend to leave a little love behind on the waistline. After struggling with diets that made her feel she was starving herself and that she would never lose weight, Shae began looking into proper nutrition for the human body. She performed numerous calculations, began a document with all of her research, and became so passionate about it. She started to share it with friends and family, whether they wanted to hear it or not. After a long discussion with some family members about what proper eating was and was not, she decided she’d like to share her information with people who wanted to listen rather than those who were going to have her as the next family roast. That document has grown substantially, morphing into a series of short reads that teach people about all the different lifestyle changes they can make. However, life is not all about just the foods we eat. She also enjoys taking leisurely walks around the state park she resides near, pretending she’s an amateur nature photographer with her smartphone, and thinking about what she’s going to write next. If the world is looking for her, it can either find her amongst a pile of laundry that never seems to end, playing with her children in the backyard, or researching for her next book about nutrition.
