La única mujer de siete hermanos, Sandra Cisneros (1954-) es una de las escritoras mexicoestadounidenses más célebres. Su obra más famosa, La casa en Mango Street, retrata la vida de una joven en el barrio latino de Chicago y es lectura obligatoria en muchas escuelas preparatorias en los Estados Unidos.

Su estilo Las novelas de Cisneros contienen una prosa poética, con tintes feministas, que busca dar a conocer las vicisitudes que atraviesan las mujeres latinas en Estados Unidos.
