Updated 2/15/2021 With a background in engineering, publishing, journalism and telecommunications, Sam is author of the book, "Work the System: The Simple Mechanics of Making More and Working Less," now, just released on 2/9/2021 in its Fourth Edition. (The First Edition was published in 2008, Greenleaf Book Group. See workthesystem.com.) With this fourth edition, the book has been extensively updated with new content and an expanded appendix. Carpenter also created an audio of the new edition, available on Audible (on March 16, 2021) and other platforms. There's Kindle, too... (In May of 2016, his second book was published: The Systems Mindset: Managing the Machinery of Your Mind (see thesystemsmindset.com.) Sam is CEO and majority owner of Centratel (www.centratel.com), a national telephone answering service that he has operated in Bend, Oregon for 36 years. He also owns several other small businesses, all operated via the systems mindset approach. Sam is founder and director of Kashmir Family Aid, a 501C3 non-profit aiding surviving school children of the Northern Pakistan and Azad Kashmir earthquake of October 2005 (kashmirfamily.org). Originally from upstate New York he lives in Bend, Oregon and Stearns, Kentucky with his wife Diana. Outside interests include mountaineering, skiing, cycling, traveling and long hikes solo and with Diana, always with their two hounds, Justy and Pearl.
