Rosalind Kerven is the author of over 60 books published in 22 countries, including several bestsellers. With an academic background in anthropology, she has been collecting, working with and retelling Traditional Stories – Myths, Legends, Folk Tales and Fairy Tales –from around the world for over 30 years. She writes for both adults and children. She has a wide specialist knowledge that few can rival. Traditional Stories are part of everyone's heritage – as important as archaeology, historical records and other art forms. Though originating from particular cultures, they have universal appeal to both adults and children. Her mission is to bring these wonderful tales alive for new generations of readers everywhere and preserve them for the future. Her first book in the genre was published back in 1986 by Cambridge University Press. Since then she has written many books for them and also for numerous other prestigious publishers such as The British Library, British Museum Press, Oxford University Press, DK, Pearson, The National Trust and Batsford. These have been highly acclaimed by reviewers, recommended by the American Library Association and translated into numerous different languages. She has also written award shortlisted children's fiction, does occasional live storytelling and talks, runs her own successful small publishing imprint and has a track record of freelance journalism and book reviewing for many leading publications.
