Lilia Sariecheva's autobiography My Russian Family, was her first book in the English language and Voyages through Time and Space is her second. She was born near Vladivostok in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Lilia has two Bachelor of Science degrees, "Russian Language and Literature" and “Defectology” which is the art and science of teaching mentally and physically challenged people. Lilia taught in Russian schools for over twenty years. Her maternal grandfather, a prince, was murdered by the Red Guard. Lilia's father rose from a peasant background, to become a World War II Red Army Officer and then a Lieutenant Colonel in the KGB. Her former husband and their son are both medical surgeons. She immigrated to the United States in 1995 and now holds dual citizenship. The Russian Professional Writers Union recognized her talent as a poet and, as an invited member of this organization, her first poetry book, Hummingbird, was published in Russia in 2001. All proceeds from this book are dedicated to helping handicapped Russian children. Over 2,500 copies have been sold. Her most recent poetry book, Mermaid, contains Lilia's poems about love and children. Her poems were also published in three anthologies along with the works of other noted Russian poets: Orpheus, Leaves Rustle and the Poem Sings and Let's Introduce Ourselves. Proceeds from these four books are donated to the Russian Professional Writers Union for redistribution to young struggling writers. Robert Osland was raised on cattle ranches and spent over five years in the Marine Corps. Robert completed his formal education as an Animal Science Physiologist. He has had many articles published in peer reviewed journals from several universities including the University of Nebraska and the University of California at San Francisco. Robert was a tenured professor at California State University, Fresno and then a government consultant on a Tunesian dairy and for ten years he managed a huge dairy in Saudia Arabia that produced all of the milk products for half that kingdom's population. Lilia met Robert in 1992 Russia, a year after Soviet Communism imploded, as he lectured with the Ensminger International Agriculture Technical Schools, created to improve the world's food supply. Lilia's creative ability plus Robert's organizing abilities and their combined determination to preserve these stories, led to the creation of Voyages through Time and Space. Together they make a perfectly paired writing team. Lilia and Robert are painfully aware of the huge gap between how Americans' perceive Russia and the reality that is Russia.
