Rob and Mary Beth live in Saint John, NB Canada, but for over 10 years, between 2003 and 2014, they operated the real Lord Sheffield as a day charter boat in St Maarten, Dutch West Indies. The Lord Sheffield is a 72 foot, square rigged “pirate” ship. Together, with a crew made up of many nationalities, they provided daysails with snorkeling and romantic sunset cruises for hotel guests and cruise ship visitors. Many of the characters in In the Wake of the Lord Sheffield are modeled after real people, including Brian, the Barracuda Kid, who is the authors' son. Unfortunately, he is sixteen now.
