Rob Groves has written three full-length period comedy plays with writing collaborator Simon Godziek. The two met as students at the University of Bath, and many years later were asked by Pentameters Theatre in Hampstead, London, to write a new play in a 1930's style redolent of PG Wodehouse, Noel Coward, and Oscar Wilde. The play, The Unrest Cure, proved to be an outstanding success, with full houses every night and box-office records being broken. The pair went on to write two sister period comedies set in 1930s England, Chameleon Sunset and Espionage!, which were performed at Pentameters and The Cockpit Theatre, Marylebone, London, respectively. All three plays use the language and archetypes of their time, but with a knowing twist for the discerning modern audience.
