Rick Walker was born and raised in Southern California. After successful careers in restaurant management and video production, he founded Corky Carroll's School in Huntington Beach, California and subsequently opened Corky Carroll's Resort in Costa Rica where he lived for 18 years. Having always been interested in the history of California, Rick began investigation the origin of Orange County's Irvine Ranch. His research led him in-depth into the state's very beginnings. Unable to find a book fully covering the political, religious, economical and exploratory aspect's of California's discovery, he decided to write one. Calafia is the result. Rick currently lives in Huntington Beach where he continues to write book 2 of California's beginning, surfs and keeps on keeping on.
