Richard Owen is a technology startup manager who writes and speaks on customer loyalty and economics - often at the same time! He grew up in Liverpool, England but fled to the United States after a tour of duty as a management consultant at KPMG. During the 1990s he worked for Dell Computer Corporation in the US and Japan as a General Manager but ultimately became Vice President of Dell's global Online business. He speaks terrible Japanese. Richard is now on his second CEO job. His first resulted in an IPO and sale, but so far he likes his second - Satmetrix - even better.
He has degrees from Nottingham University in England and the MIT Sloan School. His first was in economics and mathematics, but time heals all wounds. He lives in Northern California with his wife and son, and flies small aircraft with propellers as an alternative to saving for college tuition and retirement.
"Answering the Ultimate Question" is his first book, although the clever sections were written by Laura Brooks.
