Not surprisingly, diversity defines PJ Pajama, aka Gerald Elias. Growing up on Long Island, New York, in a family that placed high value on music and books, Elias found a niche in both worlds. As a world class musician, his enviable resume includes being a violinist with the Boston Symphony, music director of the famed Vivaldi by Candlelight series, and touring internationally as a conductor, chamber musician, composer, and educator. As an eclectic author with dizzying literary interests, he has penned the 6-installment, award-winning Daniel Jacobus mystery series, dozens of short stories, unique audio books, children's stories, essays and reviews, and a nonfiction memoir. "Devil's Trill," his debut novel in the Jacobus series, was a Barnes & Noble Great New Writers selection in 2009, and along with "Danse Macabre," (Book of the Year winner in 2010) has since been made into an audio book in which Elias himself performs music that provides clues to the mysteries. His children's story, "Maestro, the Potbellied Pig," about a young harpist who finds love and fulfillment with a very unusual pet (English and Spanish versions in paperback, Kindle, and audio) is enhanced with wonderful harp music. His nonfiction book, "Symphonies & Scorpions," is an insider's look at the world of the concert artist and how music can help bring the world together. It also includes his award-winning, TEDxSaltLakeCity essay, "War & Peace. And Music." Gerald Elias resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, and West Stockbridge, where he continues to expand his musical and literary horizons.
